Ecommerce Europe and EMOTA united as a single,\nstronger voice for the digital commerce industry<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ecommerce Europe and EMOTA, the European Digital\nCommerce Associations, are proud to officially announce that they are joining\nforces. The two associations will be unified under the umbrella and brand of\nEcommerce Europe, with the de facto<\/em> \u201cmerger\u201d becoming fully effective as\nof 1 January 2020, when, after a transition period, former EMOTA members will\nbe granted full membership rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a forecasted European B2C e-commerce turnover of\n\u20ac 621 billion in 2019, the digital commerce industry is at the center of\nimportant economic and societal changes such as digitalization, technological\nrevolution, growing interconnectedness and increasingly fierce global\ncompetition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To give the digital commerce industry the voice\nnecessary to thrive in this ever-changing and challenging environment and to\nunlock the growth potential of this sector, the two associations will speak\nwith one single voice in the future and will be fully dedicated to the\ndevelopment of digital shopping in Europe. By joining forces and by working\nhand-in-hand with EU policymakers through ambitious and achievable actions in\nkey areas such as better enforcement, harmonization and fair competition, the\ntwo associations will ensure that the digital commerce sector in Europe\ncontinues to flourish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are extremely proud to announce that Ecommerce\nEurope and EMOTA are joining forces to become the sole e-commerce association at\nEU level. This is great news for our industry, which can now count on a\nstronger voice in Europe<\/em>\u201d, declared Fran\u00e7ois Momboisse, President of\nEcommerce Europe. \u201cThis \u201cmerger\u201d will allow us to build further on the\nsuccess of the European digital commerce industry and pursue our mission of\nhelping EU legislators create the best environment possible for digital\ncommerce to grow in Europe and beyond<\/em>\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frederik Palm, President of EMOTA, stated: \u201cI am\nvery happy that the EMOTA initiative to unite both\nassociations has finally fallen on fertile ground and that we will speak\nwith one single voice for the common interests of the digital commerce industry\nin Europe in the future. This is not only an important step to strengthen our\nsector, but also a clear commitment to Europe. By exchanging our experiences,\nideas and knowledge between Member States we can bundle our expertise. Only\ntogether, as one single association focusing on the digital aspects of\ncommerce, we can have a real impact and ensure that our ideas and initiatives\nare heard in Brussels<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together, the two associations will be able to offer\ntheir members extended and more efficient services to support the development\nof digital shopping in Europe and beyond. The unified association will count\nmore than 25 national e-commerce association members, thus representing more\nthan 100,000 digital shops across Europe. The Brussels Office of Ecommerce\nEurope, which will maintain its current Public Affairs team in Brussels, led by\nits Secretary General Marlene ten Ham, will remain located in the heart of the\nEU neighborhood, in Rue d\u2019Arlon 69-71. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
